I’m not proud of it, but in my past life I often used God’s name thoughtlessly or in anger. Now, in contrast to those shallow days, my deepest desire is to be filled with the Spirit of God completely and endlessly. Since the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22, NIV), those virtues can become my mode of operation if I empty myself of pride and fill myself with God. God alone can give such gifts. Since every person is a child of God, shouldn’t I speak to everyone as I would speak to God? In a sense, every word I speak is spoken to God. I know these truths, but I forget them more often than not. So today, I will use only one exclamation when I address the beloved children of my Father and Creator. “God, I love You.” By Carol Mead |
