Thoughts of childhood invariably bring back memories of delicious aromas emerging from Mom’s kitchen. As suppertime drew near, I’d continually ask, “Is it ready yet?” Mom would patiently answer, “Not yet, but almost.” And when it was all ready, she’d serve up a scrumptious meal, complete with all the trimmings. Sometimes I catch myself becoming just as impatient after going to God in prayer. Where is the answer? Why hasn’t it come yet? Philippians 4:19 says, My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now, I’m not half the cook my mother was, but I’m pretty sure that God doesn’t cook up half-baked answers to our prayers. He delivers the best possible solutions, rich and glorious. So the next time I wonder why my prayer hasn’t been answered I’ll remind myself that as soon as it’s ready my feast will be there---right on the table---well worth the wait. By Leticia Skelton |
